Between worlds …

'Tell me the story of you' ...

I’m a yoga teacher, a therapist and a literary translator.

I was born and raised in communist Romania in a family with two very different languages and cultures (my father is Romanian, my mother is Hungarian).

It was during my childhood that I learned (and the very hard way) the importance of freedom in every human society, and the power that language(s) and translation(s) wield over people’s lives.

It so happened that I traveled a lot, living in different countries over the past 20 years. I had to understand more deeply that every language, every culture are windows open onto the world, very specific ways to apprehend it.

At 42, after years of sitting (studying, doing literary translations and providing therapies) and two late pregnancies, I had to choose between spine surgery and learning how to take better care of my body. Yoga became an extremely important part of my life, introducing me to the very subtle and abstruse language of the human body.

Translation is a bridge between worlds. Translation is not only knowledge of two different languages or cultures, it is also the capacity to move freely back and forth between them, creating connection.

I have two bachelor’s degrees, in philology and psychology, and an advanced degree in comparative literature. I completed more than six years of personal therapy with three different therapists, in three different countries. I’m a certified counselor (thérapeute en relation d’aide). I’ve been teaching yoga for the past ten years (RYT-500) on three continents.

Therapy, yoga and fasting were and still are tools that I practice daily.
